About

MeME is a South Korea artist who explores the independent life and happiness of humans. The complex emotions of our lives, which includes both joy and sorrow, is in an entangled loop within our own happiness energy and is a long journey to fully understand. If you extend our vantage point of human life from a macro, cosmic viewpoint, the emotional entanglement we face both within and outside ourselves are minuscule, hence, she want to focus on expressing various forms of happiness without being too enigmatic.

MeME is happy with the basics of everyday life, in South Korea the trifecta of the essentials of living is food, clothing, and shelter; and she am especially interested in joy from food. The properties of colorful, processed foods such as ice cream that melts with inspiration, the elasticity of jelly, and cut sections of candy are one my records of pleasant sensations: colors, tactility, and volume, both visualized in two and three dimensional artworks.

MeME's object "PIGME", a representation of her identity, also represents the fragile modern people in modern society and feels matière. The lenticular material that changes image according to the viewer's angle is one of her current methods of encouraging the audience to be more active in their lives. The artwork "Lanticular," is about changing a given environment and wants the audiences to communicate with their inner selves.

She wants PIGME to be the beacon of happy memories in the present, to everyone including the "the end is nigh" pessimists with dystopian visions. Through this, we, the present and future human beings, who have become weak in the frame of modern society, will questions about the value of intrinsic happiness. PIGME will be an artifact for finding the answer and make the audience take more initiative toward happiness and permeate through the lives of modern people.
